For I do not see to understand in order to believe, but I believe in order to understand – St. Anslem
@ KEC WE HOLD TO THE FOLLOWING CORE BELIEFS:
The aim of the church is to be local representative of the one universal church which is the Body of Christ. Therefore in all things it must be subject to the rule of Christ and in accordance with the Bible as the divinely inspired teaching and authority for faith and practice.
GOD IS BIGGER AND CLOSER THAN WE CAN IMAGINE. NOTHING IN CREATION “JUST HAPPENED.” GOD MADE IT ALL.
God is the Creator of all men and the Father of all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
(Gen 1:26, 27; Acts 17:24; John 1:12; Eph 1:3-5; 1 John 5:1 and 19).
THE BIBLE IS THE PERFECT GOD’S GUIDEBOOK FOR LIVING.
The Word of God is the divine inspiration and authority of the whole Bible. (1 Cor 2:13; 2 Tim 3:15-17; 2 Pet 1:20-21).
JESUS IS GOD SHOWING HIMSELF TO US.
He is the Eternal Son who became truly man, who died on the cross, who was raised again on the third day, who afterwards ascended to the right hand of God and will come again. (John 1:1; Luke 1:35; 1 Cor 15:3-4; Acts 1: 9-11; 1 Thess 4:16).
THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT, GOD LIVES IN AND THROUGH US NOW.
God the Holy Spirit, the Guide to all truth, whose presence and witness are the seal to every child of God. (John 16:7-14; Eph 1:13-14; 1 Pet 1:2).
SIN AND SALVATION
GRACE IS THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. FAITH IS THE ONLY WAY TO GROW IN OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.
We believe in the fallen nature of man, and the atoning death of our Lord Jesus Christ as the only remedy for sin. (Rom 3:23; 2 Cor 5:21; Rom 5:12; Heb 9:24-28).
HEAVEN AND HELL
HEAVEN AND HELL ARE REAL PLACES. DEATH IS A BEGINNING, NOT THE END.
We believe in the blessedness of the child of God and the punishment of the Christ rejecter as being alike eternal (Ps 16:11; Dan 12:2-3; Matt 25:41-46; John 3:16 and 36; John 5:28-29; Rev 20:25).
THE CHURCH IS TO SERVE PEOPLE LIKE JESUS SERVED PEOPLE.
Jesus Christ is the head of the church and all believing people are members. Ephesians 4:15-16.
JESUS IS COMING AGAIN.
There will be a final judgment. Matthew 24:3,37.
KEC is governed by Trustees and a Trust Deed. The Trustees have delegated administration of the church to an Oversight, consisting of Elders and Pastor if appointed. The Oversight has responsibility for appointing Deacons to help in support of the work of the church. The Elders shall exercise the spiritual oversight of the fellowship and be responsible to arrange for the ministry of the Word of God and to oversee finance. The basis of this government is spiritual unity and fellowship, but there is nothing to prevent the recognition of one whom God may give as a leader or Pastor.
The leadership of auxiliary departments of the work shall be in the hands of a church member or a person duly recognized and appointed by the Elders; the appointment of any person to work in any auxiliary department by the leader of a work shall be subject to the approval of the Elders; and no auxiliary shall be formed except under the authority of the Elders.
The essential ordinances in the New Testament church are Baptism of believers and Lord’s Supper. It is evident that in the early church those who believed in Jesus Christ were baptised and continued steadfastly in the Apostles doctrine and in the fellowship and in the breaking of bread and prayers. (Acts 2 v 41-42)
All desiring membership are urged to prayerfully consider the New Testament records and to follow the Lord’s teaching therein, but participation in the Communion and membership of the church shall not be limited to those who have been immersed as believers.
Meetings for Worship are conducted under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, with opportunity for the exercise in the Assembly of all true gifts for edification subject to the Lordship of Christ. (Rom 12:6-8; 1 Cor 12-14; 1 Pet 4:10-11)
